Charles Spurgeon Jackson:(Samuel J, James, Samuel, James U.)Was born in Wells County  Indiana, July 18, 1900.  The fourth child of James U. and Sabina Smith.  Died September 25, 1958 buried at Bluffton, Indiana. Charles S. married Lois Marie Kyle January 3, 1922.  Lois Marie Kyle born March 4, 1901 daughter of C. D. (Gene) & Grace (Thrasher) Kyle. Charles Spurgeon Jackson was an Electrical and Mechanical Engineer, Graduating from Tri-State College Angola, Indiana.  He worked at Fort Wayne and Bluffton, Indiana and at Wright Field (Dayton Ohio) from 1940 till 1958 as a Guided Missile Development-Control Engineer.  He was the civilian Test Conductor for the launch of the first U. S. Air Corps "Buzz Bomb" (JB-2) and was a consultant on the first Navy "Loon".  He was directly involved in more than 100 launches.  As an employee of Air Material Command and Hq. ARDC he was involved in the selection of Cape Canaveral as the launch site for experimental Guided Missiles and Space Probes.
